Corneal topography collects information about corneal curvature or relief, similar to maps that illustrate the mountains and valleys of the earth, by projecting and analyzing the reflection of an illuminating or sweeping light pattern on the cornea. The topography and tomography of the cornea are essential and mandatory examinations before any refractive surgery. The cornea is the part of the eye that will receive the laser beam during surgical treatment. It is therefore essential to evaluate certain characteristics of the cornea such as its curvature, regularity and thickness before any surgery.
