The Opto-Réseau Contrecoeur clinic has been providing quality eye care services for the whole family for over 30 years.
In April 2019, Dr. Valérie Bardier and Dr. Joël Godin, optometrists, acquired the Contrecœur Optometry Center.
At the same time, Dr. Bardier and Dr. Godin are also the owners of the Bardier Godin Visual Center in Sorel-Tracy, which has been part of the Opto-Réseau banner for several years.
In 2021, with the aim of enhancing patient experience and better serving them, the Contrecœur clinic moved to new premises. With double the space, the team was able to free up more appointment slots to accommodate clients, while also offering a wider selection of frames.
In 2023, Dr. Julie Ducharme, an optometrist highly regarded by both her colleagues and patients, joined Dr. Bardier and Dr. Godin as an associate of the clinic. In addition to professional and personalized eye care, the Contrecœur clinic offers a wide selection of trendy frames and optical products at fair prices. During your visit, you will discover a warm clinic where every appointment becomes a moment of well-being.
The dedicated team includes not only the three optometrist owners but also Dr. Alexandra Lapalme, optometrist, three passionate opticians: Geneviève, Mylène, and Rachel, a receptionist, and three assistants and expert image consultants. The team's daily mission: to provide each patient with attentive, tailor-made service for the most pleasant experience possible.

Specialty Contact Lenses And Orthokeratology
Whether from an eye disease, such as keratoconus, or a visual problem, such as myopia, some people may have an irregular cornea requiring the intervention of specialty contact lenses to improve the situation.
Our optometrists have developed an expertise in orthokeratology to slow the progression of myopia. Orthokeratology lenses are semi-rigid and, worn at night, exert specific pressure on the eye to reshape the curvature of the cornea.
Our optometrists have also developed expertise in scleral lenses. These very large diameter lenses correct particular refractive errors, such as severe astigmatism or presbyopia. They can also help greatly in relieving servere dry eye symptoms.

Visual Fields
A visual field is basically how far your eye can see in any direction without moving. Our cutting-edge tools allow us to precisely measure your peripheral and central vision. These tests help us detect certain conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. Our basic eye exam includes a basic visual field test but your optometrist might recommend specialized tests or regular follow-ups depending on your health condition and visual impairments. The SAAQ might also require you to undergo a specific vision test as part of a visual assessment.
Fundus Photography - basic
A photo of the various structures of the retina can be taken using a retinal camera allowing a more accurate examination of the fundus. This technology allows the detection of several diseases of the eye, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma and high blood pressure, to name just a few. It can also detect diseases that still have no symptoms.
The test requires only a few minutes of your time and does not require dilation in 90% of cases (drops that confuse vision). This test is therefore convenient and allows your eye care professional to monitor your eye health. The photos provide a basis for comparison between appointments to assess the evolution of the eyes or the effectiveness of treatments, if any.
Co-Management In Refractive Surgery
If you think about correcting your vision with laser refractive surgery, ask our eye care professionals if you are a good candidate. Our team of optometrists is able to do preoperative assessments to determine if you are a good candidate for surgery. Your professional will be able to advise you about the solution best suited to your situation according to your needs and available technologies.
