Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a technique for obtaining deep images of opaque or transparent materials with a resolution close to a microscope. In particular, the OCT scan provides detailed images of the interior of the retina to detect diseases such as multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema, or diabetic retinopathy.

Corneal topography collects information about corneal curvature or relief, similar to maps that illustrate the mountains and valleys of the earth, by projecting and analyzing the reflection of an illuminating or sweeping light pattern on the cornea. The topography and tomography of the cornea are essential and mandatory examinations before any refractive surgery. The cornea is the part of the eye that will receive the laser beam during surgical treatment.
