Our Approach

Opto-Réseau was created by eye care professionals who wanted to pool their resources to achieve a common goal: to safeguard and grow independent optometry in Quebec.

Our mission is simple and clear: We provide outstanding eye care and the best products for our patients’ needs. We are scientists and artisans. We are experts and advisers. We are entrepreneurs and members of a big family. We are Opto-Réseau eye care professionals.

What we care about

Improving people’s lives

We constantly ask all kinds of questions to see how we can do better as a group. Do we want to sell online? Should we offer lower-quality products? Would it be good to pare down our product lineup to cut costs?

We reached the consensus that these choices would not be in the long-term best interests of our patients. We want to improve people’s lives with unequalled service, optical products, and eye care tailored to their individual needs.

For you, our customers, improving people’s lives is about giving you the right solutions to your specific needs. It’s about helping you choose the right frames for you. It’s about offering outstanding after-sales service to give you greater peace of mind. It’s about adjusting your glasses on pickup so they won’t slide down your nose. It’s about making time to get to know you so we can give you personalized recommendations. It’s about finding you the right lenses so you can see life clearly in every moment. It’s about suggesting slim anti-reflective lenses so your selfies are always perfect. It’s about taking accurate measurements using the right instruments (no credit card needed!) to keep your eyes healthy. It’s about seeing you as a person.

Stressing quality over quantity

Recent developments in the world of optical service have seen priorities shifting from quality to quantity. We want to help people make better buying choices by offering high-quality, long-lasting products. Our products are made to last. Some call this trend slow fashion, but in our view, quality goes beyond durability. It’s about knowing where materials come from and working with suppliers who invest in research and development to continually improve lenses and frames. We make sure every product we sell meets our high quality standards.

Our commitment to quality also extends to the entire purchase experience: free adjustments for the life of your frames, in-person service should any problems arise, repairs, satisfaction guarantees, followup for fitting new lenses, and more. Our professionals are here for you.

Doing things right

We always follow Quebec law. As we see it, these laws exist to protect our patients and enable them to get quality optical care and products perfectly adapted to their vision and faces. We’re proud that all our legal offices are in Quebec. We follow the codes of professional conduct of the Ordre des optométristes du Quebec and the Ordre des opticiens d’ordonnances du Quebec. We’re glad to contribute to society by paying taxes in Quebec. Every Opto-Réseau clinic is a local business that contributes to the local economy.

Remaining transparent as we serve you

We earn our patients’ trust by offering clear recommendations tailored to their needs. No more, no less.

Our professionals choose from a wide selection of ophthalmic lenses to offer products that meet each person’s unique needs. No commissions. No “house brands” that make it harder to comparison shop. Just products we’re proud to sell.

Growing as people and professionals

Opto-Réseau is a family. We work together and encourage members to share their views and best practices so everybody benefits. Our board of directors consists of eye care professionals and owners who want to make a difference in people’s lives and eyes. Our members pitch in to help develop and grow the banner and their own expertise. We’re delighted that more than 600 people across Quebec choose a career with Opto-Réseau.

Why are independent eye care providers important?

The owner of every Opto-Réseau clinic is an optometrist or dispùensing optician who cares about the well-being of their patients. Being independent enables local businesses to better serve and give back to their communities.

For us, the easiest way to describe our banner of independent clinics is to tell you what we’re NOT:

  • We’re not a foreign-owned chain.
  • We’re not a publicly traded company.
  • We’re not a start-up beholden to our investors’ demands.

Opto-Réseau owners can be found in each clinic. They perform eye examinations. They adjust glasses. They assist patients. They put their heart and soul into delivering quality service.

A collective of independent clinics gives you the best of both worlds: the strength of a group and the autonomy to offer what’s best for patients. And by the way, Opto-Réseau is the largest group of independent optometrists in Canada.
