Our sunglass lenses

Sunglass lenses are key to protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays that can cause serious damage, such as damage to the retina, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), or cataracts.

All sunglass lenses purchased at Opto-Réseau are UV 400 certified and therefore block 100% of UVA and UVB rays.

Polarized sunglass lenses

Polarized sunglass lenses, such as Essilor Xperio lenses, offer UV protection and reduce glare from horizontal surfaces, protecting you from annoying reflections. Lenses with polarizing filters therefore provide greater comfort, clearer vision, well-defined contrast, and richer colours.

Polarizing filters are recommended for

Fishing enthusiasts

Allow you to see beyond the surface of the water.

Winter sports enthusiasts

Greatly reduce glare from snow and ice.

Motorists

Limit glare related to reflections of light on the road and dashboard.

Expert advice

Choosing the right sunglasses

In addition to the UV protection level of the lenses and the polarizing filters, the frames selected will make a big difference for optimal sun protection. You should therefore choose frames with large lenses and wide temples that cover the entire eye and surrounding area.

Tints

Today ophthalmic lenses can be clear, but also tinted in a variety of colours. Not only do they offer a variety of looks, each tint has a particular use for your vision quality and activities.

Photochromic Lenses Option

Combine style, simplicity, and added protection with lenses that adapt to ambient light. Photochromic lenses are clear lenses adapted to your vision that darken when exposed to sunlight so you can always see comfortably.

Expert advice

Opt for a mirror coating

Although people love them for their style, mirror-coated lenses are also very practical because they reflect light from the lens surface. A mirror coating provides extra protection and can therefore reduce eye discomfort and fatigue caused by glare, which is particularly beneficial in situations where light is reflected by snow, water, or sand. It comes in different colours for prescription glasses such as sunglasses. If you’re sensitive to light, this coating will provide you with superior comfort.
