How to use and maintain your contact lenses

Adjustment period

Ready to give contact lenses a try? Once your Opto-Réseau eye care professional works out what’s best for your needs, you can start wearing contact lenses. Keep in mind that it’s perfectly normal to take a little time to adjust, and that the time it takes will vary from one person to another.

It can be anywhere from a few days to a month.

Here are a few symptoms you might experience:

Slight feeling of something in your eye, like an eyelash

Intermittent blurred vision

Slight redness

Greater sensitivity to light (good sunglasses recommended)

A need to blink a lot

For new wearers of multifocal lenses: 3D effects when reading, halo effects around lights and needing more light to read.

SOLUTIONS

Unless you’re using daily disposable contacts, use the solution recommended by your eye care professional. Never mix different brands of solution together. Although many companies still put the claim “no-rub” on their soaking solutions, we strongly recommend rubbing your contacts with the solution for a few seconds right after you take them out.

Contact lens recycling

Did you know that most Opto-Réseau clinics accept used contact lenses and cases? To find out if your clinic has a contact lens recycling bin, get in touch with the team there right away.
